Overview
Mafia is a social deduction game. Most players are innocent townsfolk; a hidden minority are mafia who eliminate players at night. Days are for discussion and voting—execute the wrong person and the mafia edge closer to control. This app runs real-time rooms with a voiced moderator to keep phases clear and tense.
Roles
Mafia
Eliminate villagers at night and blend in by day. Win when mafia equal or outnumber town.
Doctor
Each night, protect one player—including yourself—from elimination. You cannot save the same person two nights in a row in many rule sets.
Detective
Investigate one player each night to learn if they are mafia. Use findings carefully; revealing too early can make you a target.
Villager
No special night power. Your strength is discussion, voting, and reading behavior. Find the mafia before they wipe the town.
Game Phases
- NightMafia choose a target; Doctor and Detective use their powers. The moderator resolves outcomes privately.
- Day discussionPlayers debate, accuse, and defend. Watch voting patterns and contradictions—lies leave traces.
- VotingThe group votes to eliminate one suspect. Majority (or house rules) decides who leaves the game.
- ResultNight falls again or the game ends if either team meets its win condition.
Flow: Night → Day discussion → Voting → Result (repeat until a side wins).
How to Win
- Mafia: Survive until your faction is at least half of living players (or eliminate all threats per your room rules).
- Town (Doctor, Detective, Villagers): Vote out every mafia member before they take control.
Tips & Strategy
- Claim carefully: early hard claims can help town coordinate—or paint targets on power roles.
- Track votes: who piles on, who hesitates, and who switches tells a story.
- As mafia: build a believable daytime persona and coordinate night plans without slipping in chat.
- Use the narrator: phase timers and voice cues keep everyone aligned—listen for what is confirmed vs. flavor.
